Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia located in the sole and connects the heel to the toes supporting the arch of the foot. It is a factor in painful gait as it is one of the most common causes of pain in the sole of the foot, especially in the heel, where heel spurs can also form. The heel spur is the bony growth in the lower part of the heel bone, where the plantar fascia adheres, which on X-ray looks like a sharp thorn, creating intense pain.
